The Sacrament of Confirmation

Confirmation

WHO

Every baptised person not yet confirmed can and should receive the sacrament of Confirmation (CCC 1306).

WHAT

Preparation for Confirmation should aim at leading the Christian toward a more intimate union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit - his actions, his gifts, and his biddings - in order to be more capable of assuming the apostolic responsibilities of Christian life (CCC 1309).

HOW

If you have any questions regarding the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation please visit your Parish Priest and/or the Pastoral Assistant in your parish.

Four key themes - Holy Spirit, Discipleship, Witness and Initiation taken from Sacred Scripture and our Catholic tradition provide a Confirmation catechesis and religious education for young people between 11-15 years old.

The Christchurch Diocese produced and uses the resource entitled "Disciples and Witness"(produced 1999).
