The Sacrament of Baptism (for older children)

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Children of Catechetical Age (1988 )- baptism of older children

WHO

Children of catechetical age who are not yet baptised.

WHAT

The Christian initiation of children requires both a conversion that is personal and somewhat developed, in proportion to their age, and the assistance of education.

The process must be adapted to the child's growth in faith and the liturgical rites of acceptance into the order of catechumens (nos.250-266), penitential rites (nos. 267 -279) and the celebration of the sacraments of initiation (nos. 280 -305).

HOW

If you have any questions regarding the reception of the sacrament of Baptism please visit your Parish Priest and/or the Pastoral Assistant in your parish.

No.246 ... the candidates should, if possible, come to the sacraments of initiation at the same time that their baptised companions are to receive the sacraments of Confirmation or Eucharist . Primary aged children are encouraged to join the group of children in the parish who are preparing for the sacrament of Reconciliationand the sacrament of Eucharist.

If possible, older candidates ought join a Confirmation class in the parish.
