Catholic Special Character Contribution (CSCC)

The Catholic Special Character Contribution (CSCC) helps cover the costs associated with the delivery of professional development services in support of Catholic Special Character in Catholic primary and secondary schools in the Catholic Diocese of Christchurch. This includes the funding of the following services:

  • Catholic School Religious Education Advisory Services
  • Catholic School Special Character Review Services
  • Catholic School Principal Support Services
  • Catholic School Special Character Advisory Services
  • The Catholic Theological College’s academic papers for Religious Education teachers
  • The Having Life to the Full Course of Studies for Health teachers.

No contributions for the above services are made by the Government.

The diocesan CSCC is charged under the authority of s.34 of Schedule 6 of the Education and Training Act 2020, and is thus a voluntary contribution paid by parents of all students in Catholic primary and secondary schools in the Diocese of Christchurch. As such it is exempt from GST and is tax deductible.

The diocesan CSCC has been approved by the Bishop of Christchurch.

The diocesan Catholic Special Character Contribution is $15.00 per term, per student ($60.00 per student, per year).
